About Fundacion Emmanuel

Meet Hilario Guzman, founder of Fundacion Emmanuel Guadalajara. He was born in Mexico City into what he calls a “destroyed Home,” meaning a fatherless home. Hilario experimented with drugs at the age of 7 and was in prison for the first time at the age of 9. He spent many years in and out of prison. He felt hopeless. All of that changed a little over 10 years ago. In Hilario’s world, “But ten years ago, thanks to God, and thanks to a person who cared and used to visit me in jail, my life changed. It was a message of love, courage, and hope. ”What came to my heart – Jesus Christ – and that’s why I’m so thankful to God.”

Since God has transformed Hilario’s life, he has selflessly given back to those who live in a world devoid of hope, a community that he was once a part of. He ministers through actions and words to inmates in prisons that he used to call home. He oversees the feeding of approximately 300 homeless or extremely poor children through mobile food kitchens. He has constructed an orphanage which he and his wife have made home for 54 children whose parents are in prison with plans to build another building for an additional 50 children.
